CADCA’s National Leadership Forum
The CTC made the trip down to Washington, DC, to participate in the annual CADCA National Leadership Forum. A 4-day conference packed with multiple adult and youth-oriented opportunities to learn the latest strategies to fight substance misuse and hear from nationally-known experts and policymakers. The Forum has brought together 2,700 participants representing community anti-drug coalitions, government leaders, youth, addiction treatment professionals, researchers, educators, law enforcement professionals, youth and faith-based leaders. We’ve been learning and listening in amazing workshops and are ready to bring back knowledge to activate in our communities.

Attachment: Improving Relationships between Parents and Their Children
Chester County Library, Struble Room
This program will introduce participants to changes in the family structure and dynamics throughout the last five decades and its effects on the family. This presentation will examine the meaning of what Attachment is and the importance it plays in the psychological development of an individual from birth through adolescence and into adulthood. It looks at the theory and practice of the interactions between the parent(s)/caregiver(s) and how this relationship can affect the child into his or her future. The presentation will explore stages of development associated with attachment and how various types and styles are produced depending on the relationship between the parent/caregiver and child. Finally, examine the basic principles involved in improving relationships and communications between the parent/caregiver and child.

"Footprints for Life" Training
Downingtown Area School District staff were trained in evidence based program “Footprints for Life” today through partnership with the CTC and thanks to funding from the Chester County Dept. of Drug and Alcohol Services! This program for students in grades 2 and 3 builds confidence, communication and decision making skills, and provides primary drug and alcohol education. Thanks Heather @wellspringcenterforprevention for a great training!

HYPE & Wellness Committee Food Drive
HYPE and the Wellness Committee came together to gather donations from students, staff, and the community, putting together a total of 38 meals! Meals were distributed to Downingtown Area families and the Downingtown Food Bank.

Virtual Community Resource Town Hall
Please join us for a virtual town hall this Friday, December 11, at 12 p.m. to learn about state and local resources available to assist with concerns such as food insecurity, housing, utility payments, and mental health.
The event will include a lineup of speakers from Chester County Food Bank, the Pennsylvania Department of Human Services, Legal Aid of Southeastern PA, and Communities That Care of Greater Downingtown. The event will be live-streamed through the website of www.RepDanielle.com.
