CTC of Greater Downingtown is a coalition of organizations, businesses, schools, faith communities, law enforcement, and healthcare providers that work to foster positive mental health and youth development in our Downingtown community. One of CTC’s signature programs is our HYPE clubs, which stands for Healthy Youth Positive Energy. Stop #12: Pennsylvania State Capital with Senator Carolyn Comitta
ROCKY's final stop on his 2025 adventure circuit took place this past Monday as he took a road trip to the state capital to visit with Senator Carolyn Comitta on the PA Senate floor!
Senator Comitta was kind enough to invite our CTC Executive Director, Carmen Glenn, and ROCKY up to Harrisburg and they both really enjoyed their visit. They received a tour of the capital, had the opportunity to meet with Senator Comitta, and also got to be acknowledged during the Senate's floor session that day.
Thank you Senator Carolyn Comitta for inviting us to visit, we had a wonderful time! It was the perfect way to end ROCKY's 2025 adventures and we greatly appreciate your support. All of the excitement from the last few weeks caught up to ROCKY and he is now taking a long winter's nap. Don't worry though - he will be back in action soon!
Stop #11: Crime Victims' Center of Chester County
ROCKY spent last week at a familiar spot - The Crime Victims' Center of Chester County, Inc.!
He thoroughly enjoyed his time hanging out with the staff and his new BFF, Dutch. As you can see in the photo, Dutch gave ROCKY some kisses and they had a great time hanging out together. ROCKY also joined the CVC staff in a virtual meeting and shared his tales from his 2025 adventures with his new friends.
Thank you CVC for taking such great care of ROCKY and hosting him once again this year.
Stop #10: The UPS Store, Lionville
ROCKY enjoyed his Thanksgiving break at one of our favorite spots...The UPS Store 0754 in Lionville!
He spent a few days getting some R&R but then was all hands on deck (even without actually having hands, which is extra impressive) once the holiday season excitement started! ROCKY says he really liked visiting The UPS Store in Lionville because of the super friendly staff and the customers who inquire about him and what he's all about.
Thanks for hosting ROCKY once again, The UPS Store 0754 - we appreciate your partnership!
Stop #9: A Haven
ROCKY's latest adventures took him to one of our newest community partners, A Haven!
While ROCKY visited, he attended one of their family groups with the kids, doing everything from check-in to reading some of their grief support books to participating in their activities and sharing in gratitude. He also learned all about emotions as well as about National Children's Grief Awareness Month, which takes place during November. Additionally, ROCKY got the chance to see the luminaries that their group kids made once they were all lit up.
ROCKY learned a lot about grief and how to show up in support when someone has experienced a death. We are so lucky to have A Haven as a community resource and are grateful they were able to host ROCKY this year!
ROCKY will be spending his Thanksgiving break revisiting somewhere he had a blast last year in his journeys...rumor has it he will be assisting them as they prepare for the busy holiday season! Any guesses where he is headed?
Stop #8: Citadel Credit Union, Chester Springs Branch
ROCKY's latest stop was at Citadel Credit Union's Chester Springs branch and he had such a fun time! ROCKY spent his time at Citadel greeting customers headed to the ATM machines with a smile. He also got a chance to see how the employees there work hard to help many members of our community each and every day.
Citadel Credit Union, Chester Springs Branch - thanks so much for hosting ROCKY and showing him all of the important work you do for our community! ROCKY has quite the packed schedule at his next stop...any ideas where he is off to?
Stop #7: Upper Uwchlan Police Department
Warning: ROCKY may have had a bit too much fun last week at the Upper Uwchlan Police Department!
ROCKY made friends quickly with the awesome Upper Uwchlan police officers and their K-9, Dexter, who was his "partner in crime" for a few days. We are happy to report that ROCKY got to fulfill his lifelong goal of riding in a police car AND on a police motorcycle! Thank you for taking such good care of ROCKY, UUPD! We are thankful to have such a stellar police force in our community and are grateful for your partnership.
Any guesses where ROCKY is headed to next?
Stop #6: Chick-Fil-A, Downingtown
ROCKY had a blast hanging with our friends at Chick-fil-A Downingtown last weekend and into the beginning of this week.
He loved greeting customers at the registers, helping with the food orders, and making sure everything was running smoothly - although there had been rumors he swiped some waffle fries as a snack!
We are so grateful to our wonderful community partners - like CFA Downingtown - for having fun with ROCKY and helping us spread awareness about all CTC does in our community. Thank you Chick-fil-A, Downingtown for being such great hosts to him!
ROCKY is back on the move...where in the Downingtown area will he pop up next?
Stop #5: Chester County United Way
If you guessed Chester County United Way (CCUW) as ROCKY's next stop, you were correct!
Rocky had a full but fun schedule at CCUW! He got to meet several of their Leadership Chester County board development program students and shared all about the work CTC is doing, especially about our awesome HYPE clubs!
Rocky also read the CCUW annual report and learned about all of their achievements this past year, then assisted their Director of Community Impact, Amanda Blevins, with CCUW's 'Help Feed Chesco' initiative to support the Chester County Food Bank.
After all of that, Rocky was a bit thirsty and decided on a hot chocolate in their Lavazza Café. It sounds like he had a blast and we are so appreciative to our friends at Chester County United Way for hosting him once again this year!
His next stop is a very busy Downingtown eatery....any guesses where he is off to next?
Stop #4: Lionville Natural Pharmacy
ROCKY has had a blast hanging out with the friendly folks at Lionville Natural Pharmacy the past few days! He made the rounds through the office: sitting in the boss's chair (watch out Mike, he looks comfy there!), playing hide & seek with the crystals, and taking note of all the amazing products & services they offer. ROCKY was also thrilled to hear that our friends at Lionville Natural Pharmacy were a 2025-2026 HYPE club sponsor this year and loved seeing Mike sport his HYPE club shirt in the 1st photo. Thank you for giving ROCKY such a warm welcome, Lionville Natural Pharmacy. ROCKY is off to his next location and is excited to see some friends he visited with last year again...any guesses on where he is headed next?
Stop #3: Downingtown West High School
Last week, ROCKY made his rounds in the Downingtown Area School District for Red Ribbon Week and his last stop was visiting the Downingtown High School West HYPE club!
The students were full of excitement over Red Ribbon Week and raising awareness about maintaining healthy lifestyles by staying drug free. ROCKY thought the HYPE advisor's RRW shirts were pretty awesome and enjoyed all the love he received from the students & faculty. Thanks for being such great hosts to ROCKY, DWHS!
Stop #2 - Lionville Middle School
ROCKY has been on the move and recently visited Lionville Middle School for Red Ribbon Week! Thank you to the LMS HYPE club students who showcased ROCKY to their school community and raised awareness about the importance of the Red Ribbon Week campaign and maintaining a drug free lifestyle. He loved all of the selfies and photo ops! Stay tuned for where ROCKY ends up next...
STOP #1 - Downingtown East High School
ROCKY's 2025 adventures kicked off with some Red Ribbon Week activities!
His 1st stop took him to Downingtown High School East. ROCKY had a great time hanging out with their HYPE club students as they promoted Red Ribbon Week and the importance of leading drug free lives. The students (& faculty!) showed off their Red Ribbon Week awareness bracelets and posed for photos with him. He loved the fun hat they gave him and said that all their RRW awareness activities ROCKED
Thanks for being such great hosts to ROCKY, DEHS!
Be sure to keep a lookout for where ROCKY goes next....
